Obama, Biden to visit Texas, Florida amid wildfires

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will visit the western United States this weekend to warn of the potential for wildfires that have destroyed more than 300 homes and damaged hundreds of structures.

Obama and Biden will travel to the Twin Cities on Sunday to speak about the wildfires and the role of local authorities to protect residents.

The trip is the first by a sitting president to the West Coast since the deadly wildfires in California and Oregon in January.
