Electric truck companies have a hard time competing with gas-powered electric water heaters in Nashville.
They lost market share to electric water heater operators in recent years.
A recent survey of electric truck operators found the share of those companies that operate gas-fired and electric water heating systems fell to about 30 percent in Nashville and parts of southern Tennessee.
Many of those electric truck companies were established in the 1990s and early 2000s.
They had a strong presence in the local power generation market in the early 2000.
But those companies are losing ground.
Many have been hurt by a shift away from gas-fueled electric water-heaters and toward diesel-powered units.
A study by the Nashville Electric Water Company found that more than a third of those truck companies are no longer making electric water and heating systems.
The company estimates about half of those businesses will have to close their operations.
A Nashville-based electric truck company that does electric water generation has also lost market shares in recent months to electric trucking companies that do not have a similar history of competing with electric water generators.
The companies, which are based in Nashville, are the biggest players in the Nashville electric water market, with about 2,200 electric water truck and water heat unit customers in the metro area.
The electric truck drivers and their customers say they rely on electric water to heat homes and businesses.
They said they lost about $200 million in business from 2016 to 2020 due to the drop in electric water, heating and air conditioning sales.
Many are now looking for new markets for their business.
They are not alone.
About 70 percent of the Nashville area’s electric water companies shut their doors in 2019, according to a survey by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
The loss of business was even greater in rural areas.
In rural areas, electric water trucks and water heating units are now almost nonexistent, according a report from the state.
The Tennessee Department also said about 20 percent of Nashville-area electric water suppliers were losing customers in 2019 and 2020.
The decline in business has also affected the electric water drivers in the city of Nashville.
“It’s not just a local market, it’s nationwide,” said Steve Johnson, president of the Electric Water Drivers Association of Tennessee.
Electric water truck drivers in Nashville say they are worried that the industry will lose even more market share in the future. “
The electric water business is a small part of the overall market in Nashville.”

Some are worried about losing their jobs.
The Electric Water Truck Drivers Association in Tennessee said it has lost nearly 60 electric water company jobs since 2019.
The association’s president, Steve Johnson of Nashville, said he was not surprised.
He said there has been a decline in sales and new businesses in the electric tankers and electric heaters.
“I think we’ve been very, very vocal about it,” Johnson said.
“They’re just not making a lot from their business and they’re losing customers.”
The electric water vehicles and water heater drivers who are closing their doors have not had the chance to buy a new vehicle yet.
Johnson said the electric power company that runs the electric vehicles and heaters is trying to lure electric water customers back.
Johnson believes that if the power company can lure people back, they can have a much bigger impact on the market.
“When the utilities are in a situation like that, they just need to figure out what the best solution is,” Johnson explained.
“And I think that the electric companies have come up with the best solutions.
They’re the best companies in the business.
If they could figure out how to get more customers back, we think they could do it.”
Johnson said it’s not enough for electric water power companies to be in the water.
“There needs to be a level playing field,” he said.
Electric water companies need to provide customers with clean and reliable power and they need to offer service at competitive prices, he added.
“Electric water service has to be affordable for everyone.
You have to compete with the gas industry.”
The Tennessee Energy Research Center reported that about 30 electric water tankers are being built in Nashville that will bring more than 1,000 electric water services to the metro.
Johnson is not alone in his concern about the electric car industry’s decline.
The Nashville-born entrepreneur, a former electric truck driver, has been in the industry for nearly 20 years.
He owns the Nashville-built electric vehicle and water trucking company Electric Truck & Gas.
He also operates a trucking and electric boat company.
Johnson’s company has built electric water engines and water-cooled water heat pumps for many years.
The most recent electric water engine that Johnson built for his trucking business is about three years old.
Johnson says he is confident that his business will recover.
He has the backing of his electric truck owners and their local governments.
Johnson expects that electric water will remain
